To act on the business management philosophy of the late chairman Choi Jong-hyeon,
SK forest has established a plan for the productive use of forests and work toward a more integrated approach to the forestry business.
Consistently well managed forests are a rich reservoir for the resources that we need.
SK forest has been growing trees and building forests for over half a century to create better lives for all.
*The forests of SK forest meet the requirements of various certification systems including KFCC-S-01
The forest offers infinite value to us when we take great care to foster and nurture it. SK forest, by leveraging forest management technologies, grows and cultivates trees and forest resources, then re-plants trees and manages them.
SK forest draws on its expert knowledge of forests to manage some of the largest forests owned by the private sector in Korea. Most of the forests managed by the company are located inland in rural areas. This was an intentional choice since the company believed that to grow trees over a longer period, it is best to move further away from busy foot traffic and into the mountains. The 4,470 ha of forest land you can find in Chungju of Chungcheongbuk-do, Cheonan of Chun gcheongnam-do, Yeongdong of Chungcheongbuk-do and Hoengseong of Gangwon-do are the fruit of those four decades of management.
The KFCC mark warrants that the forest is managed in a sustainable manner, free of any illegal transactions, while preserving the natural eco-system and benefitting the lives of local residents and employees in the process.
SK forest conducts an annual maintenance inspection to confirm that sustainable forest management is being done in accordance with the standards of KFCC to ensure that the certification can be retained.
Forest management certification ensures that forests are managed sustainably without illegal trade by preserving natural ecosystems and providing benefits to the lives of local residents and workers.

Drawing on our 50 years of experience in forming and cultivating forests, we will help solve the climate crisis through forests.

Popularizing carbon reduction activities through forest and ecosystem protection.
We aim to bring carbon reduction activities, to preserve forests, and the eco-system into the mainstream through a platform that connects the public with corporations and governments.
Through carbon reduction activities, high-quality offset credit can be obtained, along with the opportunity for more ESG-focused management and carbon reductions for corporations.

Through proactive participation and cooperation on global environmental issues, we contribute to the reduction of the nation’s GHG emissions.
Through proactive participation and cooperation on global environmental issues, we contribute to the reduction of the nation’s GHG emissions.
Forests are the only natural removals of GHG recognized by the international society, meaning preserving and expanding forests is a major method to address climate change.
SK Forest became the first Korean company to register for an A/R CDM project in Goseong to promote forest-based carbon offsets.

To establish a forest management plan, the components of the forest and the environment surrounding it must first be surveyed.
SK forest uses the latest information technologies to create a chart of the tree species and their distribution in a given forest.
Specialized forest survey methods are applied to establish an optimal plan and direction for management, taking into account the resources available to the forest and its unique setting.
To carry out the management of forests including afforestation and harvesting, basic infrastructure including roads in the forest is needed.
Environmentally friendly structures to prevent natural disasters in the forests, such as landslides, are also part of the projects to lay such infrastructure for better forest management. SK forest has the construction and engineering capabilities to design, oversee, and inspect the establishment of such infrastructure.
Based on the three focus areas of afforestation, prevention of desertification, and fighting against climate change, SK forest carries out projects to form forests in regions that have suffered from desertification or become barren in developing countries.
In doing so, the company also transfers Korean technologies used for afforestation and sapling cultivation to ensure that once forests are built in developing countries, they can be well maintained by the locals.
